The FAZ Super League off-season player movements at champions Zesco United continue with a departure and retirement confirmed by the Ndola club.

Defender Marcela Kalonda has left the 2020/2021 FAZ Super League champions and returned to Kabwe Warriors who initially sold him to Zesco four years ago.

“The two clubs reached an agreement today which will see the 23-year-old Congolese defender return to Warriors where he initially made his name before being prized away from Railway grounds by ZESCO United,” Zesco spokesperson Desmond Katongo said.

The DR Congo defender is the second foreign player to leave the club during the off-season after Kenyan striker John Makwatta.

Meanwhile, midfielder Mwape Mwelwa has retired after eight years at Zesco after joining the nine-time champions from Red Arrows.

The 36-year-old joins contemporaries’ midfielder Kondwani Mtonga and goalkeeper Jacob Banda who hung up their boots last season.
