Nkana’s plans for the 2021/2022 FAZ Super League season have received a lift with news that two players currently on short-term deals have committed to stay on for another season.
Winger Ackim Mumba, who joined Nkana last year on loan from Red Arrows, is staying put with the record 13-time FAZ Super League champions.
Uncertainty surrounded Mumba’s status following the possibility that Arrows’ may recall him after their qualification to the 2021/2022 CAF Confederation Cup.
“No, he is staying. The loan contract ends sometime next year so he is not going back,” Nkana spokesperson Lillian Musenge told AF.
“And it is the similar case with the other striker Diamond Chikwekwe.”
Chikwekwe is on loan from another Lusaka club Green Buffaloes and scored three goals for Nkana last season.
Nkana survived relegation on the last day of the 2020/2021 campaign just a season after winning the 2019/2020 FAZ Super League title.
The Kitwe clubs’ troubles last season were compounded by an exodus of key players following a drastic cut to the teams’ sponsorship package by their principal bankroller, Mopani Copper Mines PLC.
