Ghana captain Andre Ayew has officially joined reigning Qatari champions Al Sadd.
The 31-year-old has moved to the club nicknamed the Boss on a free transfer having parted ways with English Championship side Swansea City in June this year.
It has been reported that Ayew, who is a midfielder-cum-striker, will be paid around $220,000 a month by the ambitious club.
Al Sadd, who are coached by Spain football and FC Barcelona legend Xavi Hernandez, released the following statement on Thursday.
“Al Sadd have reached an agreement to sign Ghanaian star Andre Ayew,” a club statement read.
“The player will arrive in Doha in the morning to complete the routine procedures, followed by the signing of the contract and the official announcement.”
Ayew netted 17 goals in 46 matches for Swansea during the 2020/21 season and he ended the term as the club’s top scorer.
The well-traveled player has also turned out for English side West Ham United, Turkish giants Fenerbahce and French clubs Olympique Marseille, Lorient and Arles-Avignon.
He has played 94 international matches for Ghana and scored 19 goals.
