On the day of his 28th birthday we look back at the time Thembinkosi Lorch stunned 100 million Egyptians into silence.
The Orlando Pirates forward has struggled for consistency at club level since being named as the PSL’s best player in 2019, but his most memorable moment that year arguably came in Cairo while donning the green and yellow of South Africa.
Bafana Bafana were clear underdogs heading into their Africa Cup of Nations last-16 match against hosts Egypt at the Cairo International Stadium. But against all odds, the visitors came up trumps thanks to an 85th minute goal from Lorch.
