Shepolopolo Zambia coach Bruce Mwape has described Wednesday’s 10-3 Olympic defeat at the hands of The Netherlands at Miyagi Stadium in Rifu as very painful.

The defeat handed Shepolopolo a bruising Olympic debut after qualifying as Africa’s sole representative at the womens football tournament that Japan is hosting from July 21 to August 7.

“We didn’t play according to the script that we had set out in our game plan,” Mwape said.

“But that does not mean it is the end of the World because we have two more games in which to redeem ourselves in this competition.”

“Firstly, we have a game this weekend (July 24) and we must ensure we do not repeat the same mistakes that we made against The Dutch.

“We must ensure that this time we stick to the game plan so that we get the result that we hope can put us in a comfortable position going into next weeks’ last game.

“Thereafter, we shall see where we can finish and we pray that it will be enough for us to remain in the race.”

Shepolopolo are bottom of Group F on zero point’s level with their next opponents this Saturday, China.

China lost 5-0 to second placed Brazil in the earlier kickoff at Miyagi on the same date.

The Netherlands are top thanks to their healthy goal difference against Brazil whom they face in Saturday’s second penultimate Group F fixture.

Shepolopolo will face Brazil in their final Group F match on July 27 at Saitama Stadium.

The top two from each of the three groups of twelve teams will be joined by the two best third placed sides in the quarterfinals on July 30.
