Al Ahly manager Pitso Mosimane has revealed that the club will soon sign a new player from his home country of South Africa.
Mosimane has taken the Red Devils to successive CAF Champions League titles and has firmly established himself as one of the continent’s top tactical minds.
‘Jingles’ is looking to add to Ahly’s already powerful squad and says that they will be bringing a player from South Africa in the near future – though it will be neither Thembinkosi Lorch nor Gaston Sirino, two players who have been strongly linked with a move to Cairo.
“There’s a player that will come from South Africa. It’s not Thembinkosi Lorch or Sirino but the player will come,” Mosimane told SafmRadio, as quoted by Ahram Online.
“He’s not from my former team because I don’t want to touch those players because they take me to court.”
Mosimane added that while he misses the flair of South African football, the game in Egypt is on a higher level in terms of physicality and technique.
“Egyptian football is more physical and South African football is not. Here it’s more like Europe,” he said.
“They have good technique and I know people will say ‘what are you talking about?’ but I’m talking about shooting, first touch and trapping.”
Mosimane’s next task will be to try and close the gap to Egyptian Premier League leaders Zamalek in what remains of the 2020-21 domestic season.
