Riyad Mahrez has continued from where he left off last season.
The Algeria captain, who has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur as part of a swap deal that would bring Harry Kane to Etihad Stadium in recent weeks, dusted off the proverbial pre-season cobwebs with a stunning free-kick finish against Preston North End on Tuesday.
City will step up their preparation for the 2021/22 season with a match against Barnsley on Saturday before taking aim at Leicester City in the Community Shield on the 7th of August.
The Cityzens will kick-off their Premier League title defence away to Spurs on the 15th of August.
Mahrez played 48 times for City in the 2021/22 season, helping the club to a Carabao Cup and English Premier League double. The 30-year-old also scored four important goals for City in their run to the UEFA Champions League final which ultimately ended in defeat to Chelsea.
