Senegal international Idrissa Gueye feels that Paris Saint Germain’s new signing Achraf Hakimi will be a valuable player for the French giants.
The full-back-cum-winger, who hails from Morocco, joined PSG from Italian champions Inter Milan on a five-year contract earlier this month.
The transfer fee paid by PSG was reported by The Guardian to be an initial €60 million, potentially rising by €11 million in add-ons.
Gueye also commented on Parisians’ other new signing Georginio Wijnaldum, who joined the club on a free transfer after parting ways with English giants Liverpool FC.
“We knew Achraf before he arrived. I played against him, for Senegal against Morocco,” Gueye told the club’s official website.
“He is a very valuable player for us. The fact that we have very good players like him is a great asset.
“He brings a lot to the table going forward, he creates chances, he can score and provide too. We are delighted to have him with us,” he continued.
“Gini is a great player. I played against him when I was at Everton, he’s won the Champions League. We are hoping he will help us win trophies.
“The competition will be tough, but we will have to work hard for the team because individualities come after the team.”
PSG are set to face Gueye’s former club, Lille OSC in the Trophee des Champions fixture on August 1 and the 31-year-old is keen to help the Parisians win the trophy.
“We are going into this game with a lot of desire and determination. We want to start the season well against a great Lille team. We want to win this trophy to kickstart our season,” he concluded.
