Reports linking Moroccan star Hakim Ziyech with Italian giants AC Milan have been fueled by his former Chelsea FC teammate, Olivier Giroud.
Milan have reportedly identified Ziyech as a potential replacement for Hakan Calhanoglu at Rossoneri with the Turkish playmaker having recently joined Italian champions Inter Milan.
The Rossoneri have already signed two players from Chelsea this summer – Giroud and England international Fikayo Tomori ahead of the 2021/22 season.
Giroud, who helped France clinch the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, praised Ziyech as a great player as he described the left-footed attacker’s qualities.
“Ziyech is a great player. We have had a great connection even though we have played few games together,” Giroud said on Sempre Milan
“He has a top-left foot, has the experience and he is very good technically. It would be nice to play with him again.”
Ziyech was used as a bit-part player in his debut season (2020/21) at Chelsea and he contributed four goals and three assists.
The 28-year-old joined Chelsea from Dutch champions Ajax Amsterdam for a fee of €40 million (potentially increasing to a maximum of €44 million, with variable factors).
He signed a five-year deal with the London giants when he officially joined the Premier League club in July 2021.
