Zimbabwean veteran Willard Katsande has expressed his delight at joining newly-promoted DStv Premiership club Sekhukhune United.

Katsande ended speculation over his future when he signed for the Tembisa-based club, having recently been released by Kaizer Chiefs after a decade of service in the famous gold and black of the Amakhosi.

The 35-year-old defensive midfielder will bring much-needed top-flight experience to a Sekhukhune outfit making their maiden appearance in the top flight league in 2021-22.

“It’s a real opportunity for me to play in a different environment. And I’m not just coming here to add numbers – I’m here to compete,” Katsande said, as quoted by Times Live.

“The team has shown good love and support, so all I want to do is repay them with my 100% commitment.

“And the message to all the supporters of Babina Noko is that we just support the team.

“As we all see that the team has assembled a good squad. And even last season when the team was playing for promotion you could see that they had exciting talent.

“So it’s going to be a good mixture and we’re going to find a good balance to make you [the supporters] happy.”

Katsande will hope to make his Sekhukhune debut when they host Golden Arrows at Makhulong Stadium on Saturday 21 August in the opening round of the new DStv Premiership season.
