New Forest Rangers coach Tenant Chembo has given his first pre-season report card on his team a fortnight after his appointment.
The ex-Zesco United coach joined their Ndola rivals on July 28 on a two-year deal after replacing his namesake Tennant Chilumba.
Chembo has so far presided over two pre-season friendlies starting with a 2-1 win over Stay Pure Academy in midweek and later on Saturday Forest beat their town mates Ndola United by the same margin.
“These games are all about organization, if you are improving and climbing the ladder it is a very good sign. Overall, it is looking good and positive,” Chembo said.
But Chembo sounded philosophical about his possible pre-season signings.
“Football is transparent and at one point you will see new faces in the team. We will see how it goes,” Chembo said.
Chembo has enjoyed success with his last two Ndola clubs after guiding Zesco to the 2017 league title plus a runners-up finish in 2013 when he was caretaker coach.
He later steered Buildcon to their only third place finish to date in the 2019 season that saw them qualify for the 2019/2020 CAF Confederation Cup for the first time-ever.
His mandate at Forest is the same after the team finished 12th last term just a season after their first-ever runners-up placing that also saw them make their continental debut in the 2019/2020 CAF Champions League.
