Arrows and Warriors return to old CAF haunts

Red Arrows will retrace the path of their last continental campaign ten years ago in Eswatini with a CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round date against Young Buffaloes.


Arrows’ last-ever continental opponent was also from Eswatini at the same stage of the 2012 CAF Confederation Cup where they were knocked out by Royal Leopards.



Leopards held Arrows 0-0 in Lusaka and won 1-0 at home.


Winner between Arrows and Young  Buffaloes will host Premiero de Agosto in the second round.


Meanwhile, Kabwe Warriors return to continental football for the first time in 28 years with an away date against CFFA of Madagascar.


Warriors have a history in Madagascar where they return for the first time since 1973 when they beat Fortior Mahajanga 3-0 after a 4-0 home win in the second round of the CAF Champions League’s predecessor tournament the African Champions Cup.


The Winner over both legs will play victor of the Mafunzo of Zanzibar versus Angola’s Interclube.



All preliminary round first leg matches will be played during the weekend of September 10-12 and the final legs will be staged during the dates of September 17-19.


Second round first leg fixtures will be played during the weekend of October 15-17 and the final legs will follow during the period of October 22-24.
