Zesco United coach Mumamba Numba insists the clubs’ good record against Eswatini opposition in continental football is not a factor heading into their 2021/2022 CAF Champions League date against Royal Leopards.

The Zambian champions are unbeaten against Eswatini clubs in four continental matches with three victories and a draw.

“I don’t believe in statistics. What we need to do as a team is to prepare adequately for this fixture,” Numba told Sun FM Radio Sports of Ndola.

“We have to work hard to collect maximum points and what matters are solid preparations.”

This will be the two sides’ first meeting and Royal Leopards third against a Zambian since eliminating Red Arrows from the same stage of the 2012 CAF Confederation Cup.

Nkana dumped Leopards out of the preliminary stage of the 1999 CAF Cup.

“I have very little information about our opponents but looking at the way the Eswatini National team has been performing, it is very clear that they are a good team. They have very mature players and I believe they won’t be pushovers,” Numba said.

Zesco will be away to Leopards in the first leg on September 11.
