Chipolopolo midfielder Roderick Kabwe says they cannot wait for their foreign-based compatriots to join them at the teams’ training camp in Morocco.

Zambia are in the third full-day of a ten-day training camp in Marrakech ahead of their opening FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Group B qualifier against Mauritania on September 3 in Nouakchott.

Kabwe of South African club Black Leopards is the only foreign-based player in the 22-member team at the teams’ transit base in Marrakech and has been in camp with his colleagues since August 5.

“It will be a very big boost to the team and of course we expect them to come and reach the level where we are in as much as we know the level of football they are coming from,” Kabwe said.

“They are playing high-level football in Europe, like the English Premiership which is one of the toughest leagues in the World, and also others like Fashion Sakala are playing in Scotland.

“It will be a very big boost for the team but we expect them to come and gel in and work together as a team.”

Coach Beston Chambeshi has not yet named his overseas call-ups but English-based stars Enock Mwepu of Brighton and Leicester City striker Patson Daka are expected to headline the list.

However, Fashion Sakala of Scottish champions Glasgow Rangers is a doubt due to groin injury.
