SuperSport United ended the second round of 2021/22 DStv Premiership fixtures top of the league standings.

Astonishingly, no team boasts a 100 per cent win record just two matches into the new season with all 16 teams having already dropped points.

Matsatsantsa, who are tied at the top of the league standings on four points with six other teams, jumped to the summit of the log on goal difference following a 3-1 win over Golden Arrows on Wednesday.

Goals from Bafana Bafana duo Teboho Mokoena and Sipho Mbule, and second-half substitute Thamsanqa Gabuza steered Matsatsantsa to all three points. Siphamandla Sabelo scored a late consolation goal for Abafana Bes’thende from the penalty spot.

The above-mentioned fixture was the first of six matches on Wednesday following two 0-0 draws on Tuesday.

Defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns were held goalless away to Chippa United while Orlando Pirates could only conjure a point at top-flight newbies Marumo Gallants. The Buccaneers remain the only team in the division yet to win or lose a match.

Five matches kicked off simultaneously on Wednesday following SuperSport’s win in Atteridgeville.

AmaZulu and Swallows FC also failed to score in their tussle in Durban while just a few kilometres away in Chatsworth, Cape Town City came from behind to condemn Royal AM to a 2-1 defeat.

Royal AM are one of two teams yet to win a single point this season with KwaZulu-Natal rivals Maritzburg United being the other. The Team of Choice lost 2-0 to last season’s GladAfrica Championship winners, Sekhukhune United, at Harry Gwala Stadium.

Kaizer Chiefs got their season up and running with a 2-1 win over Baroka FC and are amongst the teams locked on four points after two fixtures. Khama Billiat and Daniel Cardoso were on target for the Amakhosi while Denwin Farmer found the back of the net for Bakgaga.

Elsewhere, Stellenbosch FC followed a 2-2 draw at Orlando Pirates with a 1-0 win over 10-man TS Galaxy at Danie Craven Stadium. Ashley du Preez scored the decisive goal of the game 10 minutes into the second-half after the Rockets had Pogiso Sanoka sent off early in the first-half.
