We know why we are here, says Leicester City striker Patson Daka after joining the Chipolopolo Zambia camp in Morocco together with his fellow English Premiership-based compatriot Enock Mwepu.

Patson and the Brighton midfielder Mwepu arrived late on Monday morning in Marrakesh where Chipolopolo are wrapping-up a ten-day transit training camp en route to play Mauritania away in Nouakchott on September 7 in both teams opening Group B match in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 qualifiers.

“I know that a lot has to be done; a lot is expected from myself so I really know the reason why I am here,” Patson said.

“I am happy that I am able to now meet with my teammates, I know that the expectations are so high not only from the fans back home but also from ourselves as a team because we know what is at stake.

“We know why we are here and each and every person knows what is required from them.”

Chipolopolo are hoping to make an impression in the Qatar 2022 qualifiers after failing to qualify for the last three AFCON’s.

Patson and Mwepu’s arrival also ends any anxiety over the duos’ availability after English club’s voted last week not to release players for national duty to countries on the UK’s Covid-19 Red List.

Zambia is on that UK Red List.
