Chipolopolo Zambia midfielder Clatous Chama will miss Friday’s FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Group B qualifier opener away to Mauritania due to a visa hitch.

Chama, of Morocco club RS Berkane, failed to travel with Zambia from Casablanca on Tuesday despite earlier joining the team over the weekend in Marrakech where Chipolopolo had set up a ten-day training  camp.

“Following a visa hitch, the Football Association of Zambia wishes to inform its members and all stakeholders that newly signed RS Breanne midfielder Clatous Chama will be unavailable for Friday’s Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier between Zambia and Mauritania,”  FAZ spokesperson Sydney Mungala said.

“Chama, who had initially joined the Chipolopolo camp in Morocco for the international camp, could not be allowed to travel out of Morocco with the team on September 1, 2021, following unresolved visa matters with his club.

“The RS Berkane midfielder was in Morocco to complete his move from Simba SC and has since returned to his club to resolve the matter.”

Mungala added that FAZ is hopeful Chama issue would be resolved before the weekend and he will be available for Tuesday’s Group B home game against Tunisia in Ndola.
