Zesco United striker Jesse Were is confident they will leave Eswatini with a positive result in Saturday’s CAF Champions League clash against Royal Leopards.

The Zambian champions arrived in Eswatini on Wednesday afternoon ahead of this weekend’s preliminary round first leg date against Leopards.

Saturday’s  game will be Zesco’s  second competitive match of the new campaign a fortnight after beating Lusaka Dynamos 4-0 on August 28 in the 2021/2022 FAZ Super League season-opening Charity Shield.

“We know how our fitness levels are right now and we have been preparing since we started our pre-season in July. We have played a number of friendlies and also played the Charity Shield so our fitness levels are almost there,” Were said.

The Harambee Stars Kenya striker disclosed that Zesco knew very little about Leopards but were determined to maintain their unbeaten continental record against Eswatini opposition.

Zesco has won both their away games and collected a draw and win at home in Ndola.

“It will be tricky but it is football that will do the talking and the 90 minutes on the pitch will determine everything. But we are prepared for everything ahead of us,” Were said.

The final leg is set for September 18 in Ndola and the winner over both legs will play either GD Sagrada Esperanca of Angola or Zimbabwean champions FC Platinum in the pre-group stage.
