Premier League legend Paolo Di Canio has warned Leicester City over the danger posed to them by Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen.
The Foxes will come up against Napoli in a UEFA Europa League group stage match at the King Power Stadium on Thursday night, with Osimhen expected to lead the attack for the Italian team.
Leicester themselves will likely have Super Eagles stars Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho in the matchday squad, with this clash set to have a strong Nigerian influence.
Di Canio, a former Napoli player, who also represented Sheffield Wednesday, West Ham United and Charlton Athletic in England – as well as having spells as manager of Swindon Town and Sunderland – reckons Osimhen could be the decisive factor in the match.
“Vestergaard, who has just arrived from Southampton, is tall and wiry, but with someone like Osimhen, if the Nigerian plays, he will have a hard time,” the Italian told Il Martino, as per GFNI [https://www.getfootballnewsitaly.com/2021/paolo-di-canio-on-napoli-v-leicester-city-vestergaard-will-have-a-hard-time-against-osimhen/].
“Then there is the Turkish defender [Caglar Soyuncu] who had to go to City but then stayed, and he has lost his head. Soyuncu also did damage to Turkey.”
Kick-off in Leicester will be at 21:00 CAT. The group also includes Poland’s Legia Warsaw and Russian club Spartak Moscow.
