Buildcon on Saturday maintained their 100 percent start to the 2021/2022 FAZ Super League season following a 1-0 home victory over Prison Leopards at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe.
The win comes a week after Buildcon beat Green Eagles 2-1 away in Choma on September 11 to take the overnight lead on the opening day of the campaign.
Chipolopolo striker Brian Mwila scored the games lone goal in the 89th minutes to see the comfortably end the weekend as Week Two leaders.
But Buildcon’s good form come after a difficult pre-season for the Ndola side who only trained in the last two weeks before the FAZ Super League kicked due to operational reasons amidst rumours that the club was on sale.
They replace Nkwazi at the top who lost 1-0 at home to Green Buffaloes after kicking off the season last Sunday with a 3-2 away victory over struggling record 13-time Zambian champions Nkana in Kitwe.
Buffaloes striker George Ngoma scored the winner in the 59th minute.
Forest Rangers are second on 4 points after a resounding 4-1 home win over newcomers Kafue Celtics in the second kick off of the Nkana Stadium doubleheader.
Eric Choomba scored a brace for Forest in 14th and 28th minutes while Quadri Kola converted a 22nd minute penalty.
Albert Kangwanda scored for Celtic in the 20th minute to see the sides go 3-1 into halftime.
Jonathan Munalula completed Forest’s good day at the office in the 88th minute.
Elsewhere, Lusaka Dynamos and Konkola Blades finished scoreless in Lusaka 0-0 Konkola Blades while Indeni left Chambishi with a 1-1 draw.
Mathew’s Topola equalised for Indeni on the stroke of halftime after Kelvin Chomba had put Chambishi ahead in the 42nd minute.
There is just one game on Sunday when Power Dynamos hosts Green Eagles at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe.
Both sides are looking for their first points of the season after losing in Week One.
