Nkana on Thursday recovered from their 2021/2022 FAZ Super League Week One defeat with an efficient 1-0 home win over Red Arrows at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe.
The result came ten days after Nkana were stunned 3-2 at the same venue by Nkwazi on September 12.
But on Thursday, Nkana equalled Arrows who were playing their first league game following a successful start to their continental campaign in the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round that saw them advance to the second round 2-1 on aggregate over Young Buffaloes of Eswatini.
The first half ended scoreless although Nkana striker Alex Ngonga came close in the 25th minute to scoring with a audacious attempt from an acute angle.
Nkana struck the target in the 57th minute when Zimbabwean defender Gilroy Chimwemwe fired in a fine free kick.
The war attrition continued with Ngonga continuing to give the visitors problems.
Then, Nkana goalkeeper Kelvin Malunga pulled off a fantastic save in the 80th minute to keep out Ricky Banda’s volley but the hosts never really looked under threat to end the day with a win.
