Guinea captain Naby Keita is set to miss Liverpool FC’s English Premier League clash against Brentford FC on Saturday.
This has been confirmed by the Reds’ manager Jurgen Klopp as he provided a fitness update ahead of the clash which will take place at the Brentford Community Stadium.
Keita is unlikely to feature against the Bees due to the issue he sustained at Norwich City in the Carabao Cup match in midweek having been substituted at half-time.
“Naby probably not. It’s not a serious thing but we have to wait until the pain settles, pretty much. We will see about that,” Klopp told the club’s official website.
Keita made just 10 appearances in the league for Liverpool last season as he struggled with injuries.
The stylish midfielder joined the Reds from German side RB Leipzig in August 207 having impressed in the Bundesliga and UEFA Champions League.
Keita helped Liverpool clinch the Champions League title in his first campaign at the club, and the FIFA Club World Cup and Premier League the following season.
Keïta made his senior international debut for Guinea in 2012 and has earned 40 caps and was part of their squad at the Africa Cup of Nations in 2015 and 2019.
