FAZ have suspended the Shepolopolo Zambia Under-17 team manager over the officials’ role in an incident that saw players use an unsanctioned vehicle after embarking on a public commuter bus for an official assignment.

A video has been circulating online showing six Shepolopolo Under-17 women players boarding public transport on their way to the passport office to file in their documentation ahead of this Decembers’ Zone 5 Games.

“FAZ has instituted investigations into the circumstances and have suspended the team manager with immediate effect,” said FAZ General Secretary Adrian Kashala.

“FAZ remains committed to maintaining the very high bar set for the teams especially women teams that have continued to do the nation proud.”

Kashala said the Under-17 team has an assigned vehicle despite the challenges of having all the three women’s teams in camp at the same time in Lusaka.

The senior Shepolopolo team is in camp preparing for their 2021 COSAFA Women’s Cup outing next week in South Africa from September 28-October 9 in Nelson Mandela Bay while the Under-20 team is in the midst of a two-legged 2022 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifier against Malawi.
