Ten-man Nkana on Sunday collected their second successive victory of the 2021/2022 FAZ Super League season when they beat Kabwe Warriors 1-0 away at Godfrey ‘Ucar’ Chitalu Stadium in Kabwe.
Nkana went into the break a man down after midfielder Obeddy Masumbuko received two yellow cards in the 28th and 41st minutes in what was a cagey first half.
But Nkana goalkeeper Kelvin Malunga had a busy second half in which he was summoned to make two big saves.
Malunga parried Cephas Mulombwa’s 48th minute volley and later in the 67th minute also kept out Warriors captain Ali Sadiki’s chance from an exact chance.
The deadlock was broken in the 85th minute when Nkana striker Alex Ngonga eluded Warriors defender Marcel Kalonda to snatch the 3 points.
Ngonga chested Gilroy Chimwemwe’s throw-in, and with his back to Kalonda, escaped the Warriors defender on the turn with his first touch to squeeze in the ball from a tight angle on the near post.
Nkana have jumped ten spots to seventh after the win on 6 points and four points behind leaders Green Buffaloes after three and four games played respectively.
Warriors suffered their second successive league loss and are third from bottom at number 16 on zero points from two matches played.
