Buildcon coach Boyd Mulwanda admits they undermined new boys Kafue Celtic in Sunday’s home loss that ended their unbeaten start to the 2021/2022 FAZ Super League season.
Debutants Celtic stunned Buildcon 1-0 courtesy of an Albert Kangwanda 15th minute goal away at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola to see the hosts surrender top spot after leading the log armed with a one hundred percent start on maximum 9 points since Week One.
“I think there was a bit of us underrating our opponents. They thought it was going to be an easy game but these guys had nothing to lose because playing Buildcon was enough motivation for them,” Mulwanda said.
“But for us, we needed to motivate ourselves knowing that we are playing a team that we didn’t know how they play.”
Celtic’s win was also their first after four games played into their debut top flight campaign but they continue to hover in mid-table with 4 points.
Buildcon on the other hand dropped to second place on 9 points, one behind new leaders Green Buffaloes.
“It is a wake-up call for us and the worst part was that we were playing a team that we knew very little about and that cost us,” Mulwanda added.
Buildcon stay home this Wednesday where they host second from bottom Power Dynamos who have zero points after four games played.
