Malawi will face off with Ivory Coast in their third 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification Group D match on Friday.

Kick-off is at 15h00 CAT.

The encounter is scheduled to be played at the Mecca of South African football, Orlando Stadium in Soweto, South Africa,

This game will be played at the Orlando Stadium as the Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe, Malawi has been deemed unfit by CAF.

Malawi succumbed to a 2-0 defeat to Cameroon in their first Group D game last month, before defeating Mozambique 1-0 at their temporary home, Orlando Stadium.

The Flames are currently placed third on the group standings – a point behind leaders, Ivory Coast with the two teams set to meet on Friday and in Benin on October 11.

Meanwhile, Ivory Coast were held to a 0-0 draw by Mozambique away in their first Group D game last month, before defeating Cameroon 2-1 at home.

The Elephants find themselves at the top of the group standings and they will look to maintain their lead at the top by defeating Malawi twice.

The last competitive match between Malawi and Ivory Coast was in October 2009.

The two teams played to a 1-1 draw in the 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifier in Malawi.
