Power Dynamos have announced the appointment of ex-Indeni coach Mwenya Chipepo as their new head trainer.

Chipepo takes over at struggling Power Dynamos barely 48 hours after he resigned from Indeni.

He replaces Masauso Tembo who oversaw  a winless  start to the 2021/2022 FAZ Super League season in which Power collected just two draws from their opening six games.

“Mwenya Chipepo returns to the Club as head coach with legendary former Power Dynamos player Linos Makwaza Senior as his assistant while Martin Mwamba is goalkeeper coach,” Power CEO Hippie Munkondya said in a statement.

Assistant coach Makwaza has joined Power three days after he quit FAZ National Division 1 club Jumulo FC to take up the appointment at his former club where he spent 15 years and won four league titles and was later part of the six-time Zambian champions technical bench.

Chipepo returns to Arthur Davies Stadium almost four years after he left the club to seek opportunities elsewhere after earlier heading the junior team Young Power Dynamos.

He guided Prison Leopards to promotion last year before Indeni came calling in the middle of the 2020/2021 season.

Chipepo takes over at Power who are currently second from bottom on two points after losing their opening four league matches.

His first match in charge will be after the FIFA International break on October 16 when they host Lusaka Dynamos in Kitwe.
