Zanaco have recorded their first victory of the 2021/2022 FAZ Super League season following a 1-0 home win over Nkana on Saturday in a rescheduled Week 2 fixture at Sunset Stadium in Lusaka.

The victory follows a rocky start for Zanaco who lost their first two league games before crawling to two draws and later improving on that with a win this weekend over the record 13-time Zambian champions.

Nkana were hurt by a very familiar face when their ex-winger Ackim Mumba scored the winner in the 75th minute.

Mumba left Nkana in the off-season to join Zanaco on another loan move from his parent club Red Arrows.

Zanaco move from bottom at number 18 to 15th on 5 points and are just two points behind 10th placed Nkana.

However, was no good news up the road for Zanaco’s neighbours at Nkoloma Stadium when Red Arrows were humbled 3-0 by promoted Kansanshi Dynamos.

Mathew Maleka scored a brace in 27th and 31st minutes while Victor Mubanga netted the final goal in the 49th minute.

Arrows are second from bottom on 4 points after suffering their third loss from five games played this season.

Kansanshi are at number nine with seven points.

Meanwhile, Kabwe Warriors continue to make modest progress after drawing 0-0 away at Indeni to extend their unbeaten run to two games following a three match losing start to their campaign.

Warriors are third from bottom on 4 points while Indeni are fifth on 9 points.
