Former Malian Football Federation (FMF) target Adama Traore can be effective for Liverpool FC since he can be as destructive as Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
This is according to former Leeds United star Noel Whelan, who strongly believes that the highly-rated speedy attacker would flourish at English Premier League giants Liverpool.
Liverpool have been linked with Traore, 25, in the past, but his Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers have managed to retain his services and he remains one of the club’s key players.
Whelan, who also played for Middlesbrough and Crystal Palace as a winger. is a big fan of the Spain international.
“He is a player who can be crucial to winning football matches,” Whelan told Football Insider.
“His pace, his aggression, his direct running – and now his end product, which he’s brushed up after his early days in the Premier League.
“He is a more complete player now, he can get a cross into the box or a shot off on goal. If you think about it, would he fit into Liverpool’s style of play? Absolutely,” he continued.
“He can be just as destructive as Salah and Mane in that side.”
Having been born in Spain to Malian parents, Traore declared that he wanted to play for Mali in November 2019 after holding talks with the FMF officials.
However, days later he received his first call-up to the Spanish national team for Euro 2020 qualifying matches against Malta and Romania.
He has since played eight times for Spain.
