Nkana hosts rivals and defending FAZ Super League champions Zesco United in the first leg of their big Copperbelt derby on Saturday afternoon at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe.

Zesco and Nkana head into their Week 7 fixture on the back of modest starts to the season.

But fourth placed Zesco have so far fared better with one loss and three wins from four games played on 9 points, ten points behind unbeaten leaders Green Buffaloes who defeated mid-table Indeni 5-0 on Friday at home in Lusaka.

Nkana are 11th on 7 points and have suffered three defeats from six games played.

However, form heading into the Copperbelt derby is never a factor and Nkana have dominated their last four meetings with three wins and a defeat.

Meanwhile, Nkana goes into the derby in the wake of a 1-0 away loss to Zanaco last Saturday.

But Nkana will be happy to see coach Beston Chambeshi back after missing their last two games due to Chipolopolo 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier commitments.

Chambeshi’s return is a huge relief after Nkana only managed to pick up one point from their last two games under assistant George Chilufya.

Zesco on the other hand will be hoping to continue where they left off against Kabwe Warriors following Wednesday’s 2-0 away win in Kabwe that saw them bounce back from a shock 2-0 defeat at newcomers Kafue Celtic on September 29.
