James Chamanga scored his debut continental goal on Saturday to propel Red Arrows to a 1-0 home win over Primeiro De Agosto of Angola in a CAF Confederation Cup at Heroes Stadium in Lusaka.
The result handed Arrows a valuable home win in this second round, first leg fixture to take into next weekend final leg.
Chamanga raced into the box to meet Alidor Kayembe’s ball in the 36th minute against Agosto in what was their first game in the competition after enjoying a preliminary stage bye.
The two sides meet in the final leg on October 23 in Luanda and a draw for Arrows in that match will be enough for the to advance to the pre-group stage.
Arrows are Zambia’s sole representatives in the CAF Confederation Cup after Kabwe Warriors were ejected in the preliminary stage last month.
