Kaizer Chiefs returned to winning ways in emphatic style on Saturday to move up to eighth spot on the 2021/22 DStv Premiership standings.

There were only three matches scheduled for Saturday with today’s action the first after the October international break.

Sekhukhune United and Cape Town City got proceedings underway in a thrilling encounter which boasted a catalogue of goalscoring chances at Emirates Airline Park.

Chibuike Ohizu’s fourth goal of the league season proved decisive in a 1-0 win over the Citizens. Victory moved Babina Noko up to fifth on the league standings.

A quick-fire brace from Ghampani Lungu inspired SuperSport United to a 2-0 win over Baroka FC at Lucas Moripe Stadium.

Victory moved Matsatsantsa within a point of league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, who are in Caf Champions League action tomorrow.

In the final game of the day, Kaizer Chiefs thumped Chippa United 4-0 at FNB Stadium on the day of club founder Kaizer Motaung’s 77th birthday.

Khama Billiat set up Keagan Dolly for a first half double and the latter returned the favour for a brilliant third, before Lazalous Kambole scored a rare goal; only his second for the club.

Defeat, a fourth in five matches, leaves Chippa in 14th and just three points above the relegation zone as pressure mounts on Chilli Boys head coach Gavin Hunt.
