Senegalese star Sadio Mane was ecstatic after reaching the milestone of 100 Premier League goals over the weekend.
The flying winger achieved the century in the English top flight league when he broke the deadlock in Liverpool FC’s 5-0 win at Watford FC on Saturday afternoon.
Therefore, Mane became the third African player to score 100 times in the Premier League after his teammate Mohamed Salah of Egypt and Ivorian legend Didier Drogba.
Furthermore, Mane is only the third player to score 100 Premier League goals without any penalties.
The 29-year-old made it known that he is targeting more goals and he is also eager to help the Reds win more trophies.
“Honestly, when I came to the Premier League my dream was to score as many as I can and especially to win trophies,” Mane told Liverpool’s official website.
“So today I’m very happy and very proud to score 100 goals. Hopefully, more goals [are] coming and also trophies coming.”
Mane scored 21 of his 100 Premier League goals for Southampton between 2014 and 2016 having joined the Saints from Austrian giants RB Salzburg.
The former Metz FC star set a new Premier League record for the fastest hat-trick, scored in 176 seconds in Southampton’s 6-1 win over Aston Villa in 2015.
He also finished as the league’s joint-top goalscorer in the 2018/19 season, winning the Premier League Golden Boot after scoring 22 goals for Liverpool.
