South Africa’s DStv Premiership continues with four matches this weekend, headlined by a clash between SuperSport United and Kaizer Chiefs on Sunday 24 October.

SuperSport have enjoyed a strong start to the season, racking up seven unbeaten games to establish themselves as the main challengers to leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, while Chiefs went through a rough run of form before crushing Chippa United 4-0 last weekend to suggest that they are back on track.

However, coach Stuart Baxter has warned his team against letting the feel-good factor of their big win distract them.

“We feel we have been playing better than what our results have been giving us, but we have not been clinical in front of goal. We have given up easy chances at the wrong time and had to chase the games,” the Amakhosi coach explained.

“We have been working on our attacking play, our defending and our pressing shape – when it comes together and we win 4-0, you can forget what we actually said.

“We said the players must stay focused on their performance and not people that want to bring you down, or complain or those that demand things from you.

“It’s the same now, we should remain focused on performing and not getting wrapped up in the elation and people patting us on the back now.”

Sunday’s other game sees Chippa United and Swallows FC both looking to break a six-game winless run in the league when they meet at Sisa Dukashe Stadium in Mdantsane.

Saturday 23 October sees the half-round open with TS Galaxy searching for their first win when they visit Maritzburg United at Harry Gwala Stadium, before Cape Town City look to break a four-game win drought when they welcome Golden Arrows to the Cape Town Stadium.

The shortened list of matches is due to South Africa having four participants in the CAF club competitions taking place across the continent on the weekend: Sundowns, AmaZulu (both CAF Champions League), Orlando Pirates and Marumo Gallants (both CAF Confederation Cup).
