Namibia lie in wait for either Shepolopolo Zambia or Malawi in the final qualifying round of the Morocco 2022 Women’s AFCON after completing a giant-killing act over 2021 COSAFA Women’s Cup champions Tanzania on Saturday.

The South West-African nation beat Twiga Stars Tanzania 3-2 on Saturday at home in Johannesburg to advance to the final qualifying stage with a 5-4 aggregate win.

Zenatha Coleman of Spanish club Sevilla FC scored a first half hat-trick after Shurua Mwanahamisi had given Tanzania the lead to see the two sides go 3-1 into the break.

Coleman’s haul saw her take her tally to five goals in the qualifiers after netting a brace in the first leg on October 20.

Opa Tukumbuke cut the deficit after the break but Namibia, who failed to qualify from the Group C at 2022 COSAFA Women’s Cup in South Africa earlier this month, had done enough to advance to the final round.

Namibia now awaits the final outcome of Shepolopolo’s home date against Malawi who meet on October 26 in Lusaka.

Malawi and Zambia are locked at 1-1 from the first leg played on October 20 in Lilongwe.

Should Zambia advance, they will face Namibia for the second time in less than a month after beating the latter 3-0 in a Group C match at the COSAFA Women’s Cup on October 3 on their way to winning Bronze at the tournament held in Nelson Mandela Bay from September 28 to October 9.
