Nkana’s erratic form in the 2021/2022 season continued on Saturday when they lost 1-0 away to promoted Kansanshi Dynamos in Solwezi.
The match also saw coach Beston Chambeshi face his ex-club Kansanshi for the first time since he left them in the midst of their successful promotion race in April so that he could help save Nkana from demotion at the end of the 2020/2021 season in June.
Justin Kangombe scored the games’ lone goal in the 83rd minute to see Kansanshi rebound from their 4-0 away loss to defending champions Zesco United on Wednesday in Ndola.
Coincidentally, Zesco were Nkana’s last victims on October 16 whom they beat 1-0 at home in Kitwe in the big Copperbelt derby.
Meanwhile, Nkana’s loss saw them record their fourth league defeat from eight games played this season from which they have won three and drawn one match.
The record 13-time Zambian champions are 8th on 10 points, tied with Kansanshi who have a better goal difference plus a match in hand at number 7 on the FAZ Super League log.
Elsewhere on Saturday, Kabwe Warriors beat second from bottom Prison Leopards 2-0 in their Kabwe derby at Godfrey ‘Ucar’ Chitalu Stadium.
Striker Jimmy Ndhlovu scored a brace that saw Warriors settle at number 6 on 10 points, ten points behind leaders Green Buffaloes.
Green Eagles are 11th after they defeated 14th positioned Chambishi FC 1-0 away in Chambishi thanks to a 6th minute goal from Hosea Silwimba.
Eagles’ victory was a huge relief for coach Aggrey Chiyangi.
The victory saw Eagles end a two-match losing run.
