Coach Beston Chambeshi has lambasted Nkana for failing to show character in Saturday’s 1-0 away loss at promoted Kansanshi Dynamos.
That loss in Solwezi came a week after an efficient Nkana beat defending FAZ Super League champions Zesco United 1-0 at home in Kitwe.
Saturday’s loss also displayed Zambia’s record 13-time league champions continued inconsistent start to the 2021/2022 season as they battle to be a contender this term after surviving demotion on the last day of the 2020/2021 campaign.
“I am not impressed with the way the boys played and the approach was not to our expectations. Right from the first whistle to the end, I didn’t see the Nkana I know,” Chambeshi said.
But it took hosts Kansanshi until the 83rd minute for them to collect the 3 points over Nkana through a Justin Kang’ombe goal.
That defeat also saw Nkana collect their fourth loss of the season from eight games played in which they have won three and drawn one.
“Kansanshi played well, they scored but we couldn’t score. That’s all I can say,” Chambeshi said.
“Even our substitutions didn’t bring anything into the game and the whole team didn’t bring out their best.”
Kansanshi are at number seven on the log with 10 points from seven games and with a match in hand after that victory while 8th placed Nkana also have the same number of points.
Nkana are back on the road this weekend with a very tricky Week 9 fixture against in-form newcomers and fifth placed Kafue Celtic who have collected some notable results so far in their debut FAZ Super League campaign.
Celtic have beaten Zesco and former early season pacesetters Buildcon plus drawn 0-0 away in Kitwe against Nkana’s arch-foes Power Dynamos.
