Former AS Roma star Walter Sabatini says he would easily choose Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen ahead of French striker Kylian Mbappe.
Osimhen, 22, and Mbappe, 22, have both been in good form for Italian side SSC Napoli and French giants Paris Saint Germain (PSG) respectively this season.
Mbappe has scored five goals in 11 matches in the French Ligue 1, while Osimhen has hit the back of the net five times in eight games in the Italian Serie A.
“If I were to pick one of them, I would go for Osimhen,” Sabatini said as quoted by Football Italia.
“He is unstoppable because he can run onto seemingly impossible balls and make them count. Right now, I would choose Osimhen.”
Napoli manager Luciano Spalletti also stated that he would also choose Osimhen over Mbappe, who is widely regarded to be one of the footballers in the world.
“I agree with what he [Sabatini] said and I have always thought that,” the tactician stated.
Osimhen played in the Ligue 1 before he moved to Napoli and he was one of the most dangerous strikers in France.
The quick player scored 13 goals from 25 starts in the league during the 2019/20 season for OSC Lille, who then sold him to Napoli at the end of the same campaign.
Osimhen joined Napoli for a club-record fee of €70 million potentially rising to €80 million with add-ons and this made him the most expensive African transfer to date.
