Rachel Kundananji kept her word and nerves to score a first half brace to inspire Shepolopolo Zambia to the final qualifying round of the Morocco 2022 Women’s AFCON.

The striker from Spanish club SD Eibar struck twice in an eighteen minute spell of the opening half to see Shepolopolo rally from one-down and take a 2-1 halftime lead.

But Zambia had to dig deep to earn the win after Asimenya Simwaka a put Malawi ahead in the 8th minute.

Kundananaji replied with goals in the 24th and 41st minutes to see Shepolopolo breathe a sigh of relief at halftime.

Defender Lushomo Mweemba later struck a fine long-range free-kick in the 74th minute to further calm Shepolopolo’s nerves after Wezi Mvula had restored parity four minutes earlier.

Shepolopolo face Namibia in the final qualifying phase to decide who goes to the tournament Morocco will host from July 2-23 next year.

Zambia is seeking an unprecedented second successive Women’s AFCON qualification.
