Stellenbosch FC and Sekhukhune United recorded wins on matchday 10 of the 2021/22 DStv Premiership season.
Stellies continued their strong league campaign with a 1-0 home win over Marumo Gallants at the Danie Craven Stadium on Wednesday.
The result, secured by a first-half strike from Ashley Du Preez, sees the Maroons rise to second place on the log – three points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, who have played a game less – as well as extend their unbeaten start to the season to eight matches.
Meanwhile, Sekhukhune made it three league wins on the bounce with a 2-0 victory over AmaZulu at Emirates Airline Park on Wednesday.
Victory moved Babina Noko up to fourth spot on the league standings while Usuthu remain in eighth place.
The two goals came within the space of three second half-minutes via the boot of Willard Katsande and the free-scoring Chibuike Ohizu respectively.
Lastly, Orlando Pirates fought back to hold Royal AM to a 1-1 draw in the DStv Premiership encounter which was played at the Orlando Stadium on Thursday evening.
The draw extended Bucs’ winless run to four matches in the league and they remained seventh on the standings, while Thwihli Thwahla, who are now undefeated in their last six games, moved up to fourth place on the log.
