Zambia’s 2021/2022 CAF Confederation Cup envoys Zanaco and Red Arrows hope to make some gains on the domestic front this Thursday in their respective rescheduled FAZ Super League Week 8 home games.
The Lusaka club’s will be in action twenty minutes apart as they continue to clear their league backlog that was brought about due to their continental obligations over the last two months.
Thirteenth placed Zanaco are battling their way away from the relegation zone where they have been languishing since the start of this season after losing their first two games before collecting three draws and two wins from seven games played so far.
The 2020/2021 runners-up host fourth placed Buildcon in a reunion of sorts at Sunset Stadium.
Buildcon coach Boyd Mulwanda and Zanaco coach Kelvin Kaindu were team mates at Zanaco where they won three league titles in 2002, 2003 and 2005.
Furthermore, Mulwanda was initially Kaindu’s assistant at Buildcon during the latter’s brief stint at the Ndola club in 2020.
It will be an interesting test for Kaindu’s Zanaco against Buildcon who have made a great start to their campaign under Mulwanda despite their financial woes that delayed their pre-season training by over six weeks.
Buildcon have lost just once from eight matches and were also pacesetters in the opening three games of the campaign.
But the two coaches have met only once before in opposite dugouts last season on February 7, 2021 when Buildcon beat Kaindu’s ex-club Nkana 3-1 at home in Ndola.
Meanwhile, 15th placed Arrows host 11th positioned Forest Rangers at Nkoloma Stadium and come into the match on 8 points and 10 points from seven and eight games played respectively.
Both sides have two league wins this season although Forest have endured prolonged drought with three draws and one defeat since beating Power Dynamos 2-1 on September 25.
