Zimbabwe coach Norman Mapenza has summoned two Zambian-based players for this month’s last two FIFA World Cup 2022 Qatar Group G qualifiers against Bafana Bafana South Africa and Ethiopia.
Nkana defender and dead-ball specialist Gilroy Takudzwa Chimwemwe, who has been one of the Kitwe giants standout players so far this season, has made the team.
Chimwemwe has played in three Group G games for The Warriors against South Africa away to Ethiopia and in Zimbabwe’s 1-0 home loss against Ghana on October 12.
Also in the team is midfielder Thabani Kamusoko who has been a regular feature throughout the Group G qualifiers.
Chimwemwe and Kamusoko are part of the 19 foreign-based call-ups Mapenza has summoned for Zimbabwe’s final two dead-rubber Group G qualifiers.
Zimbabwe visit South Africa away on November 11 in Johannesburg and will close their Group G qualifiers on November 14 when they host Ethiopia in Harare.
The Warriors are out of contention and are bottom of Group G with 1 point from four games.
Ethiopia have 3 points in third place while Ghana and South Africa have 9 and 10 points respectively heading into this week’s penultimate round of fixtures.
