Euro stars head to camp after good weekend shifts

As Chipolopolo troop into their Lusaka camp today ahead of Saturdays penultimate Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup Group B qualifier at home against Mauritania, we check out how some of the European-based call-ups fared over the weekend at their respective clubs.


In Scotland on Sunday, Fashion Sakala played the full 90 minutes for leaders and defending champions Rangers in their 4-2 home win over bottom of the log Ross County but the striker was not on target.


On the same day south of the border, his attacking partner Patson Daka was an unused substitute in Leicester City’s 1-1 away draw against Leeds United.


Twenty four earlier, Brighton too, drew 1-1 at home against Newcastle United in a match midfielder Enock Mwepu started for the hosts but was substituted just after the break.


In Russia on Saturday, striker Evans Kangwa played the full 90 minutes in Arsenal Tula’s scoreless home draw against UFA.


Also in action in Sweden on the same date was midfielder Edward Chilufya who scored second placed Djurgarden’s winner in a 1- home win over 13th placed Halmstad.


Chilufya broke the deadlock in the 73rd minute and was substituted in stoppage time but his compatriot and midfielder Emmanuel Banda was an unused substitute in that game.


In Denmark, midfielder Lubambo Musonda played the full 90 minutes for second tier side AC Horsens in their 6-1 home win over Fremad Amager.


Lubambo did not score for 5th placed Horsens but was on hand with an assist for the fourth goal in their victory over the second from bottom Fremad.
