Nkana coach Beston Chambeshi believes the Ronald Kampamba -Alex Ngonga attacking partnership is showing promising signs after the duo scored in Sunday’s 2-2 home draw against FAZ Super League leaders Green Buffaloes at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe.
Kampamba scored his second goal of the season that came in successive matches after leading Nkana to a 1-0 away victory over Kafue Celtic on October 30 while Ngonga took his tally to 5 goals this season at the end of round ten games.
It was the first time that the duo had together scored in a game since Ngonga joined Nkana at the end of last season when his 8 goals helped save the record 13-time Zambian champions from relegation.
“I am happy that the striking force is at least coming up. You know, we have been scoring one goal per game but both guys have now scored two goals in one game which is a good sign that now the combination is coming up in the strikers,” Chambeshi said.
But that momentum will be disrupted for at least two weeks due to the FIFA International match break until league action resumes on November 20.
“Once the league restarts we hope that we will come up with a strong strike force so that we can maintain the level we saw this weekend,” Chambeshi said.
“Overall, a point is not bad for us because we were playing Buffaloes whose morale is high and are pushing to stay at the top of the table.”
The draw saw Nkana jump four places to 5th and tied on 14 points with third placed Zesco United and number four side Kabwe Warriors including Buildcon and Kansanshi Dynamos.
Nkana are eight points behind leaders Buffaloes while at number two are Nkwazi on 19 points after round 10 games.
