South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has congratulated Mamelodi Sundowns on winning the inaugural CAF Women’s Champions League.
Sundowns defeated Ghana’s Hasaacas Ladies 2-0 in the final in Cairo on Friday night, with goals from Chuene Morifi and Andisiwe Mgcoyi.
The victory sees Sundowns become the first club on the continent to win both the men’s and women’s CAFCL title, with their men’s team achieving the feat in 2016.
Ramaphosa took to his official Twitter handle to praise Sundowns for their victory:
“National congratulations to the women of Mamelodi Sundowns for your triumph in the CAF Women’s Champions League. You’ve done your club and country proud. Well done and enjoy your celebration.”
