Forest Rangers midfielder Clifford Mulenga believes the pressure is on defending FAZ Super League champions Zesco United heading into Sunday’s Ndola derby.

Fifth placed Forest visit sixth positioned Zesco in the first leg of the 2021/2022 season Ndola derby at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.

Mulenga has been in great form for Forest this season and has three goals to his name.

Two of Mulenga’s goals have come in Forests’ last three games.

“These kinds of games are big games and very emotional. I remember even when I played for Zesco it was very intense,” Mulenga said.

Mulenga faces his former club Zesco for the first time since joining Forest as a free agent in late November.

He had an unsuccessful three month stint with Zesco in 2015.

“The pressure is usually on Zesco United since they are the bigger club and the most successful club so the motivation for us at Forest Rangers is automatic,” Mulenga said.

“So I believe we just have to go there, enjoy the occasion and work hard. Anything is possible in a local derby but I am really hoping we can get a win.”

Mulenga has reason to be confident knowing that Forest have won all their last four derby visits to the nine-time Zambian champions.

Meanwhile, one point separates Forest from Zesco who have 15 and 14 points from eleven and nine games played respectively.
