Kaizer Chiefs emerged 1-0 winners over Maritzburg United in the DStv Premiership match at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Sunday night.
Therefore, Chiefs remained sixth on the league standings – level on points with fourth-placed SuperSport United, while Maritzburg also remained 11th on the log.
The score was 0-0 at half-time and Chiefs came back rejuvenated following their half-time team talk with coach Stuart Baxter and they managed to break the deadlock
The deadlock was broken in the 63rd minute when Dolly played a pass to Billiat, who then whipped a quality cross for Bernard Parker and he scored with a header to make it 1-0 to Chiefs.
Meanwhile, TS Galaxy defeated Swallows FC 1-0 at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit on Sunday afternoon, leapfrogging their opponents out of the league’s relegation playoff zone.
The result – secured by an early goal from Sphiwe Mahlangu – sees the Rockets move to 14th place on eight points and edge ahead of the Birds on goals scored.
It was Galaxy’s second win of the season as they continue to improve under coach Sead Ramovic.
