Chipolopolo striker Fashion Sakala’s dreams of winning his first piece of silverware at Glasgow Rangers since joining them in July ended on Sunday after they were knocked out in the Scottish League Cup semifinals.

Rangers were beaten 3-1 by Hibernian at Hampden Park to end their hopes of a first Scottish League Cup final appearance since their runner-up finish in the 2019/2020 season.

Hibernian scored all their three goals in the opening 38 minutes of the game via a Martin Boyle hat-trick while Scott Arfield struck Rangers’ consolation goal in the 40th minute.

Meanwhile, Fashion started the match from the bench and came on in the 61st minute for Ryan Kent.

The match also marked ex-Dutch international defender and new Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst debut since his predecessor Steven Gerrard left the Scottish champions just before the November FIFA international match break to take up his first EPL appointment at Aston Villa.

Meanwhile, Fashion and company return to action on November 25 when they host Czech side Sparta Prague in a UEFA Europa League penultimate Group A fixture.
