Nigerian star Victor Osimhen picked up a terrible injury during an Italian Serie A encounter between SSC Napoli and Inter Milan on Sunday.
The highly-rated striker had to be substituted ten minutes into the second-half after suffering an eye injury following a head-to-head collision with Inter defender Milan Skriniar.
His team went on to succumb to a 3-2 defeat to Inter at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza and it was Napoil’s first defeat of the season in the Serie A.
Napoli could now be without their top scorer when they face Russian giants Spartak Moscow in the UEFA Europa League encounter on Wednesday.
“Osimhen is now in the hospital, he could not see well, he has a swollen eye,” Napoli manager Luciano Spalletti said on Sport Face.
“I think he got a hematoma around his eye, I think it ends there and it’s just a blunt trauma and that’s it”.
Osimhen has hit the back of the net nine times in fourteen matches across all competitions for Napoli so far this season.
Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr will be hoping that the injury is not serious with the Super Eagles set to take part in the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations finals in January.
