Ivorian attacker Maxwel Cornet says he wants to score “again and again” after continuing his great form for Premier League club Burnley this past weekend.

The 25-year-old has netted five times in six league starts for the Clarets this season, having scored their third goal in a thrilling 3-3 draw with Crystal Palace last Saturday.

Only fellow African attackers Mohamed Salah (11 goals) and Sadio Mane (7), as well as Jamie Vardy (7) and Michail Antonio (6), have netted more than Burnley’s summer signing from Olympique Lyon.

And Cornet hopes to continue finding the back of the net for Sean Dyche’s team: “I like to score and I want to just enjoy my football here,” he is quoted by the Burnley Express.

“I want to score and stay focused. I enjoy it. When you score it’s very nice, and that’s why I want to score again and again, for my team, my teammates and for the club.”

The Ivorian has taken quickly to English football, explaining, “Yes – I like this championship.

“It’s nice for my profile – I like to keep space from the defenders, and I’m a fast and quick player.

“It was a good goal [against Palace] – it was instinctive. It was a very good goal, but I think [my goal against] Leicester was good as well.

“We could have won the game, but we could have lost the game. We keep one point, and that’s not bad because we could have also lost.

“It is the Premier League – and we stay focussed for the next game.”
